The Covenant Circle was formed in 1990 as a way to unite the group of twenty and thrity-somethings. We are a very transient group. Many of our members have been resident wives or graduate students that have moved on. We still keep in touch with those that have left us. A major focus of the group is fellowship. It provides us a way to come together as United Methodist Women and discuss issues in our daily lives. Another major focus is service and community-related activities. Some of our projects have included: Church World Service Kits, sponsoring a family at Christmas time through Madison House, sponsoring local foster children at Christmas time, Food Bank, making lunches for the Habitat volunteers, and purchasing a Gideon Bible. Our programs have included study of 1st John, Ecclesiastes, Women in the Bible and discussions of the books-Joshua and Embraced by the Light. We are currently reading Tuesdays with Morrie and are looking forward to our dicussions of future books. We meet on the second Thursday of each month in the homes of our members. We, also, try to meet at other times during the year-like brunch on Saturday-so that those that can't meet on Thursday can join us. We have a small active group and would like to invite anyone to join us. |
