Extraordinary Donations

March 2004

U.S. Smokeless Tobacco Company (USSTC) selected the Western Albemarle Rescue Squad as one of its Trail Gator award recipients for 2004. Along with 23 other paid and volunteer fire/rescue organizations, WARS has received one of these rugged, all-terrain vehicles. Among a variety of applications, the vehicle can be used for off-road rescue, staffing of special events, and support during inclement weather. The 6x4 version available through USSTC's program is amazingly versatile, having done yeoman's service from the scene of the World Trade Center disaster to the U.S. military's search for terrorists in Afghanistan.
This award was made possible by the support of USSTC, which established the Trail GatorTM National Donation Program, a national program to donate John Deere Trail Gator Utility Vehicles to state, county, and municipal emergency organizations. We are very grateful and thankful of USSTC for this award. Follow the link for a list of other award recipients.

WARS was one of the 17 winners nationwide of the ConAgra Foundation
Community Service Awards. These awards are given annually to nonprofit
organizations that provide exceptional service to communities where
ConAgra, Inc. has
operations. WARS was nominated for the award by ConAgra Frozen Foods,
which employs 860 people in Crozet, VA (right down the street from our

throughout the year, and we are very glad to have been recognized for
our continued service to the employees of this corporation and the rest
of the community. Follow this link to see pictures
