ConAgra Foundation Community Service Award Presentation

Jay Shively, WARS Captain in 1999, worked for several months with the administration of ConAgra Frozen Foods in Crozet, VA to secure a $15,000 donation.  ConAgra Frozen Foods, a part of ConAgra, Inc., is a nationally known frozen foods manufacturer with a large facility in Crozet.  With the help of 1999 Treasurer, Mary Mesz and Vice President, Darlene Griffin, and after many meetings with the ConAgra administration, the donation was approved.

This donation was the largest that ConAgra had awarded in the country in 1999. Western Albemarle Rescue Squad was one of three contenders and out of the three finalists, received the most money that ConAgra had available for a community organization. Channel 29 news and the Daily Progress came out and took pictures of the check presentation.

Below are pictures from the award presentation by Crozet´s Plant Manager, Mr. Gary Bartolacci, to then WARS Captain Jay Shively and Vice President Darlene Griffin.

Here we have pictures of Jay Shively showing Mr. Gary Bartolacci the inside of our new Ambulance 503.  The donation from ConAgra, Inc. was used to purchase equipment including that used to outfit this new ambulance.  View how Ambulance 503 looks now, fully equipped and in-service.

We would like to express our sincere thank you to ConAgra, Inc. for this great award and contribution to our operations.  It is through these donations that we are able to fund the many costs of running a non-profit volunteer rescue squad, which is of no direct cost to the individuals we help.
