Since our members are always focused on the call they are
responding to, it is usually difficult to acquire action
shots of these men and women at work. However, below we have
been able to capture several pictures from training
incidents. The training depicted is specifically designed to
teach members how to handle situations where people become
entrapped in vehicles as a result of a motor vehicle
accident (MVA).
Squad 505
is an integral part of these extrications, as can be
depicted in several scenes. The extrication demo
depicted here was done as part of EMS week in 1996. It
demonstrated various means of gaining access to an entrapped
patient after a car accident, such as by opening or removing
the doors in various ways and by rolling the roof
back. Among the WARS members present were senior
extricators Gary Conley and Todd Lucas.
