Lay Readers Schedule

Next Sunday, September 7th we return to our regular worship schedule with services at all three churches. St. John’s Church, Scottsville at 8:30 a.m., St. Stephen's Church, Esmont at 9:30 a.m., and Christ Church, Glendower at 11:00 a.m. 

Sunday School also begins September 7th with a “carnival rally” at 10:00 a.m. in the Parish House. For more information see Andi Maxwell. 

Habitat for Humanity: St. Anne's Parish is being called upon to provide workers and  food on Saturday, September 6th. If you would like to help and for more information, please call Bill Cooper at 286-2888. 

Our Fall Parish Picnic is scheduled for Sunday, September 21, following the 11:00 a.m. Christ Church service.  Note there will be only one church service that Sunday.  Drinks, hamburgers/hot dogs, and dessert will be provided for the picnic.  Please plan to bring your favorite side dish to share.  If you're interested in volunteering and/or donating additional items, please contact Missy Dickie at 286-6048 or meldickie@aol.com for more details.   

The Personal and Career Development Center in the counselor education program at UVA offers counseling to individuals at no charge. The counselors in the center are doctoral students with advanced training in working with people struggling with various issues. Individuals may call the center at 924-0783 to get more information or to make an appointment.

The new Church Directory may be found on the tables in the back of the churches.  Please take a copy for your use and notify the Church office with any corrections or additions.  

Youth Group meets the 1st and 3rd Sunday's of each month at 5:00 p.m.

 Youth in 5th grade and up are welcome to attend!

OUTREACH:  The Outreach Committee has a recurring need for people to visit elderly shut-ins.  Also, needed are names of those who are isolated at home due to infirmities and would like a visit.  

 Please help by bringing canned food to church every Sunday.

  • Examples of the type of  canned and dry goods which are appropriate for the Food Pantry: Salmon, Tuna, Chicken Breast, Spam, Beef Stew, Chicken Noodle Soup, Chicken Dumpling Soup, Sirloin Beef Soup, Whole Potatoes, Green Beans, Instant Oatmeal (Regular Flavor), Apple Sauce, Creamy Peanut Butter, Instant Folger's Coffee, Vanilla Pudding Mix, Canned Peaches, and Soda Crackers.

Copies of the daily devotional "Forward Day by Day" may be found on the tables at the back of the churches.  Please feel free to pick one up.

  • Scottsville Christian Women's Group's Breakfast Ministry:  Serving the residents of the Scottsville School apartments on Tuesday mornings at 9:00 a.m. Volunteers needed.  Contact Angie Critizer  for information and/or  to volunteer.

  • Have an old cell phone? The Scottsville Lions Club is collecting used and unwanted cell phones. Many of the donated phones will be available for use as 911 emergency phones for seniors, handicapped and domestic violence victims. Collection boxes are located at the IGA Shopping Center, Scottsville Library, Bruce's Drug Store and BB&T.

  • Please note: For our children, we have bulletins for ages 3-6 and ages 7-12. You will find these on the table in the back of the church. Please help yourself!

  • Scottsville Bread of Life needs volunteers to help with food distribution on the third Saturday of each month at 9:00 a.m. at the Scottsville Community Center. For more information please call Bill and Bonnie Cooper 286-2888

  • "Friends of the Parish whose names have been placed on our Prayer List for the ill will remain on the list for four consecutive weeks unless the Parish Office is notified otherwise."

AA:  Alcoholics Anonymous meets daily in the area.  293-6565
