We are pleased to offer our traditional Pack Meetings and activities along with some new outings and service projects.  This year, each den will be sponsoring a monthly activity for the entire family.  Please take advantage of our varied choices and participate in as many as your time and interests allow.

We will need a representative from each den for:

Peanuts & Popcorn in the fall
Pinewood Derby scheduled for January 24, 2009
Blue & Gold Banquet scheduled for February 21, 2009

Spring Camp-out

Please look at the camp sites below so we can talk about them at the next leaders meeting.

Training opportunities with my unofficial recommendations/reviews:

Cub Scout Leader Essentials, Sep 13 in Charlottesville (http://monticello.bsa-sjac.org/Document%20Folder/Monticello_Training_13Sept2008.pdf) . Complete Youth Protection, New Leader Essentials and Cub Scout Leader Specific on line at http://www.bsa-sjac.org/training.htm. Attend the afternoon break-out session to network with other leaders and hear their ideas. Youth Protection is REQUIRED for all leaders!
PowWow, Nov 1 in Verona. This includes BALOO training and we need more trained BALOO volunteers to go camping! Additional classes will be going on and can be great if the organizers are on top of things.

BALOO, April 4.

Wood Badge, Set 25-27 and Oct 9-11 in 2009. This has a great reputation as on outstanding course.

District Roundtables

The Cub Scout Monticello District Roundtable is held the first Thursday of each month, 7-8:30 pm, at Aldersgate Methodist Church on Rio Road in Charlottesville. It's a great place to hear what other Packs are doing. Dates are: Sep 4, Oct 2, Nov 6, Dec 4, Jan 8, Feb 5, Mar 5, Apr 2, May 7, Jun 4.

Pack Leaders Meeting

Our meetings will most likely be the Wednesday or Thursday after the Roundtable, 7-8 pm at C. Murphy. We will confirm the day after the SOCA schedule comes out.

Roadside Clean-ups

Each rank sponsors a quarterly clean-up. Webelos go first in September, Bears in the Winter, Wolves in the early spring and Tigers in late spring (we skip the summer). This meets Wolf requirement 7-d, Bear requirement 6-g and Webelos Outdoorsman Activity Pin requirement 6.

I am waiting to hear back from Nauticus http://www.nauticus.org/ about the camp-in and Camp Albemarle http://www.campalbemarle.org/index.htm about the Pack Picnic.

On the Cale Parent Volunteer Form, they are asking for volunteers to "Assist w/Development of Nature Trails". This sounds like a natural for a Scout group! Let's talk about it at the next leaders meeting.
