  • Providing a continuum of services to individuals addressing current needs and strengths.
  • Outreach services to individuals who are homeless through the PATH program and as a home base for seeking housing, employment, and entitlements.
  • Promoting personal worth and well-being through partnerships with competent role models and mentors in the PACSS program, and throughout all that we do.
  • Empowering consumers as volunteers, joint participants in planning activities and Peer Support Center policy, and full decision makers in their own affairs.
  • Provide a quiet respite from daily struggles as well as a mailing address and phone to seek housing and employment.
  • Provide meeting space for recovery programs, 12-step groups, and consumer advocacy groups.
  • Provide on-site peer-supported housing for consumers.
  • Refer consumer/member to social services agencies to address medical, psychological, or social needs only when requested to do so by the consumer/member.
  • A major role of On Our Own of Charlottesville is to advocate for positive change in the mental health system and attitudes toward
consumers.  Staff and members serve on the board of, or as consultant to, various state and local organizations.
