1. Start Eudora. Select “Options” from the “Tools”
menu. The Getting Started option will open if this is the first time you
are setting Eudora up. Otherwise click “Getting Started” under Category in
the left column.
2. Enter your real name in
the “Real name” text box.
3. Enter your email
address (userID@avenue.org)
in the “Return address” text box.
4. Enter the incoming mail
server name (monticello.avenue.org) in the “Mail Server (Incoming)” text
box.
5. Enter your userID in
the “Login Name” text box.
6. Enter the outgoing mail
server name (monticello.avenue.org) in the SMTP Server (Outgoing)” text
box.

7. The Checking Mail, Incoming Mail and Sending
Mail options will be automatically filled in according to the information
you entered in the Getting Started option.
8. Click on the “Checking
Mail” option under Category in the left column .
9. Look under the section
“Secure Sockets when Receiving”.
10. Select the option
“Required, Alternate Port”

11. Click on the “Sending
Mail” option under Category in the left column.
12. Look under the section
“Secure Sockets when Sending”.
13. Select the option “If
available, STARTTLS”

Note: When attempting to
check for mail and you receive an error message similar to this:
<Dominant>, Logging into
POP Server, SSL Negotiation Failed: Certificate Error. Cert Chain not
trusted. Try adding this certificate to your certificate database for SSL
to succeed Certificate Error.
Try the following:
1. Select “Options” from
the “Tools” menu.
2. Select “Sending Mail”
under Category in the left column.
3. Look under the section
“Secure Sockets when Receiving”.
4. Click the button that
says “Last SSL Info”.

5.Then go to the
Certificate Manager and select the SSL Certificate that says
US, Virginia, Charlottesville, Monticello Avenue, IT,
monticello.avenue.org,
webmaster@avenue.org
6. Click “Add to Trusted”

7. Repeat the above for
“Checking Mail” under Category in the left column. |
