Careful consideration went into the design of Greene County Community Park Disc Golf Course. Mike Purcell is the member of the Blue Ridge Disc Golf who came up with the initial design for the course. Its design was reviewed by the Greene County Parks & Recreation director and the regional director of the PDGA, who have both given their thumbs up to the project. The course design takes into account the natural beauty and terrain around the hills and streams of the park, and is being built with as little impact to the environment as possible. The course offers a variety of challenging obstacles with forest, field, and creek holes. The course offers three tees, and one pin placements for each hole. The course was redesigned in the Fall and Winter of 2005 by Mike Purcell. The course recently had tree harvesting in 2008, and the back nine are being redesigned.
