December 2003: Members of the Association Franche-Comté–Virginie were happy to see Blake CARAVATI in Besançon. A full schedule for Blake in Besançon included meetings with Mayor Jean-Louis Fousseret, City Council Member, Jacqueline Panier, and Director of External Relations, Geneviève Randot-Socié. Blake also discussed future exchanges with the Directors of the Chambre de Commerce du Doubs, the Ecole de Commerce I.M.E.A., and the Centre de Linguistique Appliquée. - July 15–29 2003: U.Va.’s Center for American English offered an intensive English class, especially geared to francophones. Students lodged with Alliance Française host families.

- June 17–27 2003: Students from St. Anne's-Belfield visited Besançon, staying with host families from the Association Franche-Comté – Virginie.
|
- June–August 2003: A Besançon Ecole de Commerce student served as an intern at the Charlottesville Chamber of Commerce, with sponsorship by Alliance Française.

- April 24–29 2003: Visitors from Besançon stayed in Charlottesville - with host families from Alliance Française.

- March–April 2003: Philosophy Professor, Mlle Laurence DEVILLAIRS (Besançon native, graduate of the Ecole Normale Supérieure, currently at the Collège de France and also editor at the Editions du Seuil in Paris), travelled tp Charlottesville to participate in the Festival of the Book and to give lectures during “Philosophy Week” at the University of Virginia.

- March 13–19 2003: 15 Besançon apprentices (chefs, waitresses, auto mechanics) and their 2 English teachers visited Charlottesville, staying with host families from the Alliance Française.
